| Free drug information centre at GMC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 22 : To provide timely medical help and better healthcare facilities to the people of Jammu and its adjoining areas by providing information related to drug use, the Department of Pharmacology, Therapeutics and Toxicology, Government Medical College, Jammu has opened a free Drug Information Center (DIC) in Jammu and was made operational yesterday.
Organisers of the center observed that Drug Information Center (DIC) headed by Dr Vishal Tandon can play an indispensable role in the promotion of rational drug concept and improvement of therapeutic outcomes by dissemination of unbiased and evidence based scientific drug information.
Head of Department (HOD) Pharmacology GMC Jammu Dr Zahid Gillani said this centre was established keeping in view the workload on doctors of different departments as it was observed that the usually the doctors were not able to discuss the diseases with patients in detail due to the heavy rush. He further said that they were working on it for the last six months and from yesterday it was made operational.
The department shall be open for all the days except holidays for the free service to the community in the form of Drug Information center out patient department.
Any person can send any query by email or call during the working hours of the department for any drug or prescription related query, which shall be answered taking help of experts from the department and Government Medical College and electronic support system within shortest possible time.
The responsibility of all correspondence in DIC will be done by resource person to maintain the uniformity of reply and to maintain the database of request and reply, the Out Patient Department (OPD) timing for summer is from 8 am to 2 pm and for winters it is from 10 am to 4 pm, he further said. |
