| NHPC distributes sewing machines | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, July 22: NHPC Ladies Welfare Association (LWA), Sewa Hydroelectric Project Stage-II, has distributed Sewing machines to girls of village Hutt on completion of vocational training under Resettlement and Rehabilitation Scheme. In a function, organised at village Banni, President, Ladies Welfare Association, Kusum Rattan distributed Sewing Machines to village girls. Speaking on the occaision, President said that NHPC Ltd has started two tailoring and cutting teaching centers, one at village Hutt near power house site and other at village Gatti at Dam site. 20 girls/ladies in each village have benefited from these vocational training initiatives by NHPC Ltd. She further said that ladies welfare association has done various activities in and around the project area for the development of local people. Last year computer training programme was organised for the local children at village gatti and sewing machines, Dari and Jute mattress were distributed in Gatti village during march 2010. She assured that in future also LWA will play active role in the development activities around the project and sought co-operation from local people. |
