JMC conducts drive against adulteration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 24 : Continuing its drive against adulteration, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today conducted surprise checks in various bazaars of the city. A JMC team led by Health Officer Dr Mohammad Anwar Choudhary inspected the various food establishments including ice cream parlours, fruit juice shops, / manufactures, sweet shops, Milk and Cheese Shops, Provision Stores, Dhabas, Tea Stalls and restaurants in the areas of Railway Station, Nanak Nagar, Canal Road, Talab Tillo, Hari Market, BC Road Bus Stand etc. During the inspection 70 such food establishments were checked and 9 samples of Cheese, curd, milk, fruit drink / sweetened, carbonated Beverage were lifted under PFA Act 1954 and sent for analysis to the Public Health Laboratory. The team also realized Rs 3300as fine on spot from 15 defaulters under J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. About 20 Kg of unwholesome cooked food, 10 Kg of Ice Cream and 30 Pieces of Chipped crockery were destroyed on spot. In addition to this 45 shopkeepers / House owner were challaned for creating unsanitary conditions in the lanes / markets. In addition to it, the Municipal Veterinary Officer along with field staff conducted a drive against the adulteration of milk in the areas of Maheshpura, Canal Road, Bhagwati Nagar, Talab Tillo, Rajpura etc. During the drive 75 Nos of Milk canes were checked, out of which 17 Nos. of milk cans were lifted and sent to laboratory to check the quality of the milk. A fine of Rs. 2250/- was also realized from the erring Milk Vendors on spot. Further the team also visited the areas of Amphalla, Rehari, Janipur, Satwari, Nai Basti etc and lifted 23 stray animals from these areas and impounded them to Municipal Cattle Pound. A fine of Rs 1300 was realized from the owners of stray animals.
