Inadequate sanitation in rainy season in Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 24: In a scenario of negligence of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in clearing up the garbage and implementation of proper sanitation facilities during ongoing rainy season, there are chances of eruption of epidemic within the municipality limits of the town. Reports say a large number of people are afflicted with various diseases like digestion problems, food poisoning, diarrhea and other ailments because of viral infections. As per medical experts most of viruses and bacteria are activated in the rainy season, and ailments caused by them can be prevented with proper sanitation facilities. But the Health Wing of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) seems to be in deep slumber as far as cleaning up of the drains and nullahs of Jammu city are concerned. There are many areas in the city where water gets accumulated in the absence of proper drainage system. Locals say that rain water is accumulated in various parts of the city. He stated that many shops and factories throw their litter in open; it also contributed in spreading of various diseases besides choking the drains. Repeated requests to the Municipal authorities have not yielded desired results so far. Health Officer, JMC Anwar Choudhary said "We are adopting every possible measure to ensure well-being of the citizenry by ensuring proper sanitation facilities. Our teams are also checking different markets and commercial sites in order to take strict action against those who violate sanitation rules".
