| Two held with 15 kg poppy straw | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 27: In separate incidents, police last night held a trucker and a car operator while they were trying to smuggle poppy straw.Police sources said cops recovered six kilograms of poppy straw from a truck (HR37C/1440) at Khoon Dhar in Udhampur late Monday night. Police seized the truck along with the poppy straw and arrested driver Harvinder Singh, son of Pargat Singh of Jullandhar, Punjab. Sources said the seized contraband was being smuggled from Srinagar to Punjab. In another incident, a car (4474/JK14) was seized at M H Morh, Udhampur, after cops recovered nine kilograms of poppy straw from it. Its operator Ajay Kumar, son of Jai Krishan, of Tikri was arrested by the cops. Both the accused were booked under section 8/15 of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPSA).
