RAJOURI, July 27:With the state governments announcement of holding local bodies and Panchayat elections, Congress Party has intensified its work on refreshing bodies in the twin border districts of Rajouri-Poonch. The party is also planning to filter black sheep in its cadre to clear its image before the people.
Though Congress party had already announced party level election, the announcement of holding Panchayat and local bodies polls have forced the party to gear up in refreshing its bodies.
Sources said Congress party is planning to come up with clean image and is planning to filter all black sheep and tainted leaders from the party. Sources said that the party is having various leaders in Rajouri Poonch who have lost image among the public besides are allegedly involved in conspiring against its own party.
Keeping in view the coming elections, party want to elect office-bearers with clean image and had already launched a thrust in this regard by appointing Jahangir Mir, Member Legislative Council as District Returning Officer (DRO) for Rajouri district. A Congress leader from Haryana will look after the election process in Poonch.
Sources said that high command has clearly directed the DRO's to bring clean image leaders forward for their election in the district, provincial and state bodies. The DRO's have also being directed to kick start election process in the state.
With the appointment of DRO's in Rajouri Poonch, Congress leaders have started lobbying for their close candidates., However the party is in no mood to entertain the recommendations on those having tainted background.
When contacted DRO for Rajouri, Jahangir Mir hinted that black sheep have their presence in all parties and Congress is also affected with this virus which may cause loss to the party. He said that Congress will filter those leaders in near future as the party wants only people having clean image as the leaders at each level. "Either it may be state, provincial, district or block level, we have to bring forward people with clean image as we want to strengthen party which is only possible when we have loyal and honest people in the office bearer", Jahangir Mir said adding that the election is a process to refresh bodies but they desire to bring clean and honest bodies at all levels.
When asked about allegation of conspiracy being hatched by some Congressmen against its own party, he said though there might be few such people but they are under the surveillance and action might be initiated against them.
