Illicit liquor recovered, female bootlegger arrested | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 27: Police have arrested a female bootlegger while selling illicit liquor on exorbitant rates to a shopkeeper at village Koulpur of district Samba today. Police sources said that a woman identified as Manjeet Kour wife of Kulwant Singh of Pakhadi was held with 55 bottles of Rum and 48 bottles of Beer on exorbitant rates to a Poultry shop owner identified as Sohan Singh son of Mohinder Singh of Koulpur, who was also arrested by the police. Police spokesman said that acting on a tip off police conducted a raid at village Koulpur under the jurisdiction of police station Ramgarh today. During the raid Police recovered 55 bottles (Crazy Rum) having inscription "only for sale in Chandigarh" and 48 Bottles Beer from the possession of Manjeet while selling it on exorbitant rates to Sohan Singh. Both the accused were arrested under section 48 Excise Act and case stands registered at Police Station Ramgarh. It is pertinent to mention that bootlegger is a habitual offender and use to procure the liquor from Chandigarh for selling it in Koulpur and adjoining areas. Meanwhile, Katra Police arrested four bootleggers while 112 Poly Pouches have been recovered from their possession during checking in the holy town of Katra of district Reasi last night. The accused have been identified as Vijay Kumar of Panthal, Kuldeep Kuma, Suraj Kumar and Bobby of Serwad tehsil and district Reasi. A case under section 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC sands registered at PS Katra.
