PK reiterates separate Homeland demand
7/27/2010 10:33:55 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 27: Giving clarion call to exiled Kashmiri Pandits across the globe to raise the demand of separate Homeland with UT status in one voice and with all their vehemence from every quarter, Panun Kashmir reiterates that it is high time to intensify our struggle for achieving our goal.
Panun Kashmir in its political affairs committee meeting chaired by its convener Dr Agnishekhar took stock of the current political developments in the state and deliberated upon the far reaching consequences of the recent National Conference working committee recommendations regarding the release of all political prisoners; amendment and withdrawal of AFSPA; employment and rehabilitation packages for thousands of stone pelters, surrendered terrorists and twenty thousand ex-terrorists; besides resumption of dialogue with Pakistan and separatists and restoration of internal autonomy as only solution to the vexed Kashmir problem.
Panun Kashmir has termed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's proposals, which were recently handed over to Prime Minister by him, of serious nature and fraught with implications.
These proposals are almost in tune with the opinions and positions of all political parties from PDP, CPI (M) and Hurriyat Conference.
Panun Kashmir opined that the problem will acquire a new and dangerous dimension, if Government of India while addressing these proposals tends to ignore, as in the past the geo-political urges and aspirations of seven lakh Kashmiri Pandits, people of Jammu and Ladakh. Panun Kashmir urges union government to shun the policy of appeasement and adhocism and reject in clearest possible terms the machinations of state government to project the prevailing deteriorating situation as the outcome of anger of unemployed youth and not to ignore the LeT's hand behind it.
The gravity of this situation demands not to ignore serving Chief of the Army staff's observations that speaks volumes about the ground realities in Kashmir valley. Blaming and maligning the security forces is a part of design to demoralize the forces and justify the demand of demilitarization and withdrawal of AFSPA.
