These sheets have been signed by the public from every corner of India and compiled by BJP workers. This was stated here today by BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas while interacting with the party leaders. Manhas, who left for Delhi today with the files containing paper sheets signed by the public of the state as an expression of protest against the price rise for presentation to the President of India through National President Nitin Gadkari and other leaders. He said 3 lakh signatures from the state of Jammu and Kashmir were obtained by BJP workers by organizing signature campaigns at district, mandal and booth level during past six months. The various morchas of the state has also contributed to this campaign by obtaining signatures of protests from their constituents, he added. Manhas said that this presentation of signatures of protest to the highest dignitary of the nation is part of the BJP's commitment for the public good and concern for poor and common man. He said that BJP has been continuously agitating and highlighting the utter failure of the Congress led UPA government on the price front. The leaders of the present government are only interested in enjoying the power and pelf at the centre and are neglecting the concerns and agonies of the common man. He said that the Congress always misleads the people of the country to seek votes on the slogans of being concerned for the welfare and betterment of the poor people but after assuming power, the leaders of this party totally forget what they had promised and instead work for a handful of big business houses and black-marketers, which results in rise in the prices of essential items. He said that the BJP have been raising the issue inside and outside the parliament but the Congress led UPA have not taken the issue seriously, which speaks of its anti-poor approach. Manhas said that the BJP-led NDA also ruled the country for six years but there was no price rise because we were more concerned for the survival of a poor person in the country and did not allow anyone to indulge in hoarding. He expressed hope that the President of India will use her good office and direct the union government to take immediate and effective steps to bring down the prices of essential items.
