| JPPF demands local VC for CU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 27: A meeting of Jammu Province People Front (JPPF) was held today at Geeta Bhawan Jammu under the Chairmanship of Paviter Singh to chalk out further course of action on the various issues of discrimination being meted out to Jammu region and the measures to be taken for their redressal.
The core issue which became the focus of the meeting was appointment of a local as Vice Chancellor for newly sanctioned Central University (CU) Jammu.
Addressing the meeting, the speakers expressed great anguish and resentment over the attitude of Union Government for not finalizing the name of local as Vice Chancellor for Central University.
They resolved to intensify their struggle by organizing protest dharnas at every district headquarter to express resentment for this deliberate delay.
The members further added that other issues like shifting of Bus Stand, problem of PHE employees would also be taken up by JPPF shortly.
They urged upon the Central Government to take prompt action on this issue and fulfill the aspirations of lakhs of people of this region.
Forum expressed gratitude to the state government and local administration for acting promptly to settle the tense situation in Samba. The meeting was attended by Dr Agnishekhar, Dev Raj Baru, Kuldeep Luthra, D P Kotwal, T R Pandoh, Amit Magotra, Narayan Singh, Inderjit Khajuria, M S Katoch, Prof Zahirudin Madhu Sharma, Gajan Singh, Rajesh Kesari and several others.
