| Army orgainses Bakarwal mela | | |

UDHAMPUR, July 28: To provide a platform for addressing the problems being faced by Bakarwals and towards better perception management, a Bakarwal Mela was organised by ‘Forever in Operations’ Division in the pristine environment of Mughalpura.
The Chief guest for the mela was the General Officer Commanding, ‘Forever in Operations’ Division who was accompanied by the Chairperson FWO. Senior Officers of the Civil Administration of Dras Sub Division also graced the occasion.
The Mela was a grand success which was evident from the huge crowd that had gathered at the location. A total of 642 Bakarwals, attended the Mela, Chaudhary Mohammad Ismile, Bakarwal Block President, on behalf of all the Bakarwals thanked the Army for the efforts being done for the welfare of the community.
The GOC assured them of all help possible from the Army. He distributed various utility items like buckets and poly sheets to various Dera heads.
To encourage children to study and broaden their horizon, books were distributed amongst the children.
A drawing competition was organised wherein prizes were given to the participants. The Mela also provided an opportunity to the children of Dras Public School and Model Public School, Muradbagh to showcase their talent. A song and dance show was presented by them during the event.
To extend medical care to the Bakarwals and their animals, a Medical Camp was also run in the Mela. A total of 155 patients and 10464 animals were treated during the event.
