JKNPP protests Bhim Singh’s arrest | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 28: In protest against the arrest of Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) Chairman Prof Bhim Singh, the party activists held a demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan today. The protesters condemned the dictatorial act of the NC-Congress coalition government for arresting Prof Singh along with leaders and workers of the Panthers Party of Kashmir valley in Srinagar when they were heading towards Lal Chowk for holding peaceful rally for restoration of peace and democracy in the state. The Panthers party leaders, while addressing the demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan Jammu, strongly condemned the Omar Abdullah government for denying democratic right of protest and public meeting at Srinagar to the leaders and workers of the party. There was neither curfew nor any call of bandh in Srinagar today and thus no reasonable cause to arrest Prof Bhim Singh and others leaders of the party. This draconian act of the ruling alliance shows that the government does not want democracy and peace to strength in the valley. The ruling alliance which has lost its public support is using undemocratic repressive methods to silence the voice of opposition in the state. The JKNPP demanded removal of Omar Abdullah government and Governor’s rule in the state. Prominent among those who joined the protest and addressed the gathering included H C Jalmeria, State General Secretary and Spokesman, Bansi Lal Sharma, Political Advisor to JKNPP, Jagdev Singh Coordination Secretary and Raghubir Singh Billowria.
