EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, July 28: Kandi Ekta Manch (KEM) has alleged that funds of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation (MNREGA) Act are being misused as the workers registered for 100 days’ employment under this scheme are not getting their wages. KEM president Ashok Jasrotia said this while leading a deputation of villagers from Dhaloti area in Hiranagar tehsil. Jasrotia said the people of Dhaloti, who worked for 100 days under MNREGA have not received their wages till date. Jasrotia alleged that MNREGA executing agency is not adopting fair means in village Dhaloti where several job card holders were engaged for various developmental works and who worked for 100 days under this scheme have not received their wages for the last four months. He said even though all the job cards are not updated and incomplete, the few spoon-feed job holders who did not give their days for labour received the fake payment in connivance with some of the of officials of executing agency The irate villagers alleged MNREGA executing agency and its administrators in district Kathua are befooling the innocent people to register for 100 days’ guaranteed employment which is a big fraud and unseen in the entire district since the workers are being denied wages. On behalf of District Development Commissioner Kathua, the Chief Planning Officer Davinder Singh patiently heard the deputation and assured to take stern action against erring officials and those who found guilty would be strictly dealt.
