Functioning of NCLP schools reviewed

UDHAMPUR, July 28 : To review the functioning of schools being run under centrally sponsored National Child Labour Project (NCLP) in district Udhampur, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Baseer Ahmed Khan today convened a meeting with district Officer and NGOs associated with National Child Labour Project Society, Udhampur.
Chief Planning Officer, Udhampur, Mr. H.H. Dutt, Project Director, NCLP Udhampur, Mr. Ram Paul Choudhary, Project Officer, ICDS, Mrs Anjana Tikku, Chief Education Officer, Mr. S.K Gandotra, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kuldeep Kesar, Secretary District Red Cross Society, Dr. V.P Sharma, President Rotary Club, Udhampur, Mr. Rajinder Sansan, President Chambers of Commerce, Mr Sham Saroop Kalsotra and officers of various departments attended the meeting.
The meeting, after holding detailed discussion on issues pertaining to smooth functioning of the Project, took various decisions including serving of meals to the students by Education Department instead of Labour Department, signing of MOU with Rotary Club in monitoring and aiding of NCLP school at Jakheni (Bharat Nagar), extension of services of teaching and other staff, making provisions for bridge course for the students of NCLP Schools.
Expressing his satisfaction over the functioning of NCLP schools in the district, The District Development Commissioner who is also the Chairman of NCLP, Udhampur exhorted upon the official and Ex- officio members of the project to conduct regular inspections of these schools to check the quality of Mid Day Meal, attendance of students as well as quality of education being imparted to the students and other co-curricular activities observed in the schools.
To provide health cover to the students, Khan instructed the Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur to conduct health check up sessions on monthly basis. Mothers of Child labourers who have already been involved in the parent-teachers association would be organized into Self Help Groups by the DRDA for taking up income generating activities, the meeting decided.
Modalities were also chalked out to organize a Bharat Darshan visit for the students of NCLP schools of the district to give them exposure and make them acquainted with the diverse culture of different Indian states.
