| Burglar kills man with trident after he grapples with him | | |

JAMMU, July 28: A 75-year-old man was murdered by a burgler with a trident after the former grappled with him at Chhani Himmat here late last night.The dead was identified as Khokhu Ram, son of Sant Ram, of Chhani Himmat and the accused as Kamal Singh of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.Police sources said Kamal broke into Khokhu's house at Chhani Himmat
at about 11.30 pm. While he was searching for some valuables in the house, Khokhu got up and caught hold of him, the sources added.When the burglar failed to free himself, he picked up the trident lying at the nearby pooja ghar and hit it in his neck, injuring him
critically. Hearing his screams, other family members also got up.
Sources said the family members apprehended Kamal and later handed him over to the Chhani Himmat police station.The old man was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds at about 8 am today. He had
sustained a deep wound in the neck.After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites.Police had registered a murder case against the burglar, who was cooling his feet at the Channi Himmat police station.
