Early Times Report,
Rajouri, July 29 : Though declared unsafe by the Public Works Department, Tehsil and Treasury Office Mendher in Poonch are still functioning from the “dangerous” buildings which are at the verge of collapse.
Following heavy rainfall in twin border districts of Rajouri for the last three days, rain water has today entered treasury and tehsil office, Mendher which has forced the authorities to shift record from these buildings. Though no loss of property in these offices has been reports but it has reminded the authorities that both the buildings are unsafe and has already certified by the concerned department.
Showing helplessness, Tehsildar Mendher Dev Raj Sharma said that these buildings have been declared unsafe by the PWD in recent past as water was coming inside from the roof. He said that he had already highlighted the issue with district administration. “I have been assured repairs as and when funds will be available”, Tehsildar said.
His whole office has turned swimming pool with chairs and mats floating on it. The roof of the office has been cracked and whole rain water is entering his office. Though Tehsildar has saved all records by shifting it to safer places, he said that the condition is so bad that employees have a terror to enter the office.
Meanwhile, same is the condition with Tehsil Treasury whose floor has been cracked and water flown inside the hall. Tehsildar also visited the treasury and took the stock but showed helplessness. “I am also facing the same crises and cannot help them except bringing it in the notice of higher ups”, Dev Raj told Treasury officials.
Meanwhile when contacted Superintendent Engineer, Public Works Department for Rajouri Poonch, Sarda Nandan said that he was not aware about the condition of these buildings. “I have not been told by anybody to repair these buildings”, he said.
