7/29/2010 11:16:46 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, July 29: Vehemently condemning the police atrocity on MLA Langate Er S A Rasheed, CPI (M) State secretary and MLA Kulgam M Y Tarigami demanded a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
In a statement today, Tarigami said the thrashing and beating of the MLA is a gruesome and shameful incident which should be immediately inquired.
“The incident is disrespectful and humiliation to the institution of legislature. A peoples’ representative’s stature has to be respected and any contempt to it must be taken serious by the government,” he asserted.
Meanwhile, in this connection Tarigami met Speaker of J&K Legislative Assembly and submitted a notice of breach of privilege against SP Handwara under Rule 238 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the J&K Legislative Assembly.
