| Red alert sounded in Poonch town | | |

Poonch, July 29: Following heavy flash floods in poonch town and its surrounding areas a red alert has been issued in the entire district by the administration as the poonch river is overflooded because of continuous and heavy rainfall recorded during the last 72 hours. The main headworks of three important bandhs have been washed away at Surankot, Chandak and Srar Khul Poonch.
Two persons were also trapped in the flash flood in the Poonch river who were later evacuated to a safer place when the civil administration approached local army near Gulpur village. However, the deputy commissioner Poonch has established a control room to monitor the situation. He has also issued directions to the concerned revenue officials to assess the losses occurred to the life and property and process relief measures in favour of devasting flood victims.
