| Temple damaged by drunkard | | |

JAMMU, July 29: A drunkard caused damage to a roadside Shiva temple at Moralian near Miran Sahib, about 15 km from here, in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
Identified as Somesh Sharma alias Pinta, son of Prabhatu Ram Sharma, the accused hails from Miran Sahib.Miran Sahib police station SHO, Inspector Sunil Jasrotia said Pinta, who was evading arrest, had been booked for causing damage to temple and hurting religious sentiments of the people under section 295 of RPC.
He said he had a brawl with a man at about 1.30 am after which he caused damage to the temple under the influence of liquor.The SHO said Pinta had caused damage to Nandigan and tiles, besides
throwing kalash, which hangs over the Shivalinga, into the nearby canal.
Though there was resentment among locals against Pinta's highly condemnable act, religious harmony in the area was intact, he added.Jasrotia said Pinta's family members had also condemned his act and
assured police of full cooperation.He said raids were being conducted at different places in and around
Moralian to arrest him.
