| Buffaloes drown in Ranbir canal | | |

Jammu, July 30: Over a dozen buffaloes were today washed away in Ranbir canal at Bagaira on the Akhnoor road.
The incident occured when the buffaloes slipped into the swollen canal waters while quenching their thirst. Quoting locals, police sources said a total of 22 buffaloes were on the bank, quenching their thirst. The wet surface, which had grown weaker due to incessant rains, gave way to their combined weight and all of them slipped into the canal, the sources added.
While 10 of them were rescued by the locals, the remaining were washed away. Their bodies were yet to be fished out, sources said.
