NC repudiates PDP’s accusations | Parties locked in point-counter point spat | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 30: Terming PDP as politically, intellectually and morally bankrupt party, National Conference leader and assembly contestant from Banihal, Haji Sajjad Shaheen has criticized the statement of PDP leadership in expressing to launch war against National Conference during its foundation day. Shaheen said ever since the people of state threw PDP out of power, its power - hungry leadership is showing signs of completely frustration and has resorted to wily stratagem to bring disrepute to National Conference and promote their selfish aggrandizement. In doing so it has no qualms of conscience for wrecking peace and stability of the state to foster petty political gains. He accused PDP of false cacophony, propagandist approach, double play and personal vendetta against National Conference and its leadership. He said that it was under the PDP rule that Jammu and Kashmir came to be known the most corrupt state of the country. During their regime, PDP leaders played soft towards entrenchment of corruption, which has become difficult for the present government to eradicate. He said chief minister Omar Abdullah is not only committed to uniform development of all the three regions of the state but is also equally committed to peace, stability and permanent political settlement of the Kashmir issue. Omar Abdullah is the only chief Minister who has made it many a time at various national forums that the Kashmir issue is not an economic issue but a political one and needs to be addressed politically. He has also raised the issue of AFSPA several times as the Chief Minister while in office, and vehemently advocated its amendments and gradual removal. He appreciated young Chief Minister for constituting high level commission to probe the recent killings in Kashmir during the ongoing violence. He appealed to the people to maintain peace and communal harmony and has urged upon leaders of all political parties and members of civil society to come forward to help the Government in restoring peace in the state.
