Bovine smuggling foiled, 3 held

Jammu, July 30: Foiling their attempt to smuggle bovine animals to the valley, police today held three smugglers near Amar Chashma at Batote, about 110 km from here on the Jammu-Srinagar road.
The accused were identified as Farooq Ahmed, son of Jamal Din, of Kalyanpur, Jammu, Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid of Majalta, Udhampur, and Mirza, son of Shukkar Din, of Batote .
Police sources said they were taking 21 bovine animals by road when a police party led by Batote police station SHO intercepted them near Amar Chashma early in the morning.
When they failed to satisfy the queries of the SHO, they were taken into custody, the sources added.
During questioning, they confessed that the animals were being smuggled from Udhampur to Kashmir.A case was registered against them at the Batote police station under section 188 of RPC.
