IAF motorcycle riders’ Himalayan odyssey | | |

NEW DELHI, July 30: An Indian Air Force team of 13 air warriors, astride on ten motorcycles embarked on a – ‘Explore the Himalayas’ -- odyssey from New Delhi, today. The team led by Wg Cdr VV Singh was flagged-off from India Gate here by Air Officer-in-charge Administration, Air Marshal JN Burma.
A statement issued by Defence Ministry here today said that the expedition would trace the route from New Delhi through Kasauli and Kaza to Siachen Base Camp and return via Kargil, Srinagar and Amritsar, covering a distance of over 4500 kms in 16 days.
The team would try to spread awareness about the IAF amongst the people of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, enroute.
The team, riding on Hunk and CBZ motorcycles would negotiate treacherous roads over high passes such as Baralach La (17,645 feet) and Khardung La (20,212 feet) through the expedition.
