8/1/2010 11:16:42 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 1: Strongly condemning the incident of misconduct with a Sikh boy in Pulwama district in Kashmir, Punjab Agriculture Minister Sucha Singh Langeh asked the State Government to ensure the security and safety of minority communities particularly Sikhs in Kashmir valley.
Talking to media persons here today, Langeh termed the incident of cutting of hair of a Sikh boy in Kashmir Valley shameful incident and appealed to Government to maintain law and order and said that such mischievous elements should immediately be booked to assuage the sentiments of Sikh community.
"It was the weak policies of the state government to handle the state affairs that the people of minority community are disrespected", Minister alleged, adding, "We believe in religious binding and communal harmony and such incident attempted by mischievous elements to create hatred and disaffection amongst different communities and cautioned the people against the designs of such forces".
He added that Government should ensure safety to minority like Punjab Government as no such incident had happen in Punjab.
Langeh suspected a conspiracy of exodus against the Sikh community in Kashmir Valley and called upon Sikhs of Kashmir Valley to remain there and fight against such alleged nefarious designs of mischief elements. He took state Government to task for ignoring Sikhs in State Cabinet and said that Govt must include Sikh representative in cabinet.
