Restoring normalcy high on Congress ministers' agenda | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 1: In the wake of fresh violence in Kashmir valley few Jammu based senior cabinet ministers have made up their mind to put pressure on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to deal firmly with those stoking fires in Kashmir and not allowing the situation to come back to normalcy. These ministers are likely to bare their hearts during the weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday. When asked to comment on the state government' response to the ongoing situation in the Kashmir valley a Congress minister, demanding anonymity said, "time has come now for the state government to firmly deal with the mischief mongers on the streets of Kashmir". "The state government should not let go all those faceless people stoking fires in Kashmir go scot free", the Congress minister said. "All possible efforts should be made to expose them and bring them to justice. The Congress minister deeply pained over the current situation said that, "political engagement by the mainstream party leaders is the only way forward to restore normalcy in parts of Kashmir in order to restore people's faith in the system". Referring to the speculation doing the rounds of corridors of power about the possible change of guard at the helm the Congress ministers said. |
