Kathua residents burn DC's effigy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kathua, August 1: Residents of Kathua town burnt the effigy of the DC Kathua, Sanjeev Verma, to lodge their protest against the administration for closing the temporary kacha pathway as alternative to new bridge under construction constructed main bridge. The pathway to Parliwand over the Nalla (Khad) connects the two parts of Kathua Parliwand and Parliwand. Protesters blamed the DC and his administration for putting the way out of use by delaying the construction of the bridge. This has created many difficulties for the people of Kathua. The administration is unconcerned and the administration has totally failed to mitigate the suffering of the people. They said that the bridge is the lifeline of Kathua and it is the busiest and most crowded place. The administration fails to understand the critical importance of the bridge to the local population. The admi9nistration had announced it would complete the construction in shortest possible time but nearly five years have gone by and the bridge is still in its early stage of construction. Two persons have lost their life after they fell in the Nullah. If the bridge was not completed in shortest possible the entire population of Kathua town would go on a massive protest against the administration. Many leading personalities including Dune Chan, Gnash Sharma, Vinod Sharma, Yash Paul, and others were present.
