Guv visits Baltal base Camp; reviews Yatra

BALTAL, Aug 1: Governor, N N Vohra, visited Baltal Base Camp today and reviewed all aspects of the ongoing Yatra to the Holy cave shrine of Amarnath.
The Governor undertook this visit as part of his on-going on-the-spot reviews of all the Yatra related arrangements. In this context, he has visited the Base Camps, Camps enroute and the Holy Cave. He had undertaken a visit to the Holy Cave and Panjtarni Camps yesterday in the wake of heavy rains and inclement weather in the past several days.
Governor, who is the Chairman of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the Board, R K Goyal, and other officers of the Board, went around the Baltal Base Camp for about two hours for a detailed inspection of the logistical facilities and other arrangements made for the Yatra. He interacted with the officers of the Shrine Board, District Administration and representatives of the various concerned Government departments and agencies who are providing services to the Yatris in the Camp area. He particularly reviewed the arrangements in regard to sanitation, cleanliness, toilet facilities, functioning of the Sewage Treatment Plant, J&K Bank's ATM facility, power and drinking water supplies, medicare, functioning of Langars and other utilities.
Governor directed all concerned to ensure effective arrangements for the collection and disposal of solid wastes on a daily basis at the Base Camp and all other locations in the Yatra area for ensuring regular cleanliness. He laid special emphasis on protecting the environment and ecology of the Yatra area. The Governor asked the Langarwalas, shopkeepers and other service providers to daily ensure cleanliness in and around their establishments.
The Governor interacted with the Yatris at Baltal and enquired about the arrangements made by the Shrine Board and the various State Government departments for facilitating them. The Yatris were appreciative of the arrangements on all fronts and particularly praised the valuable assistance provided to them by the Security Forces.
