| 20th State Billiards and Snooker Championship | | Kuldeep, Sumesh, Kamal enter quarterfinals. | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 1: Title contenders, Sumesh Turki, Kuldeep Sharma and Kamal Rohmetra among six cueists today made it to the quarterfinals of senior snooker event in the 20th State Billiards and Snooker Championships underway at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
There was hardly any upset in senior snooker event up to the quarterfinals stages with two pre-quarterfinal matches remaining. Three other upcoming players today reached the last eight stages are Nikhil Kapahi, Fahad Handoo and Mohit Mahajan.
Now, the eight quarterfinalists shall be playing the league round starting from tomorrow. It will be followed by the semi-finals scheduled to be held on August four.
Earlier, Kamal trounced Ishan Chowdhary in straight frames while Sumesh registered a 3-1 win over Yuvraj Singh in the best of five games. Kuldeep defeated Ishuk Chowdhary 3-1.
Meanwhile, as per the organizers, the junior billiards competition shall commence from August five.
