LoC traders for improving trade system | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, AUGUST 1: Saying that there is need of lot of improvement in making Cross-LoC trade more effective, Cross-LOC Traders Association, Poonch has hailed administration for streamlining the system and reminded them to implement Standing Operation Procedure in true spirits. In a press statement issued here, spokesman of Cross LoC Traders Association, Sheeraz Khan has said that there is lack of some machinery on the Rangar Trade Centre and they are facing problem due to non-availability of whole truck scanner machine and a construction of separate store house for traders. Saying that though there were reports of holding trade by the relatives of officers, spokesman said that there is no problem in holding trade by the relatives of any officer. "We have no problem if some officer's relative is holding trade but the officer should himself refrain from trading", Sheeraz Khan said adding that presently there is no such officer who is holding direct trade on the route. Demanding increase in the number of trucks from 25 to 50, Khan said that there is no limit in the Standing Operation Procedure regarding limits of import or export of trucks. "The 25 figure of trucks has been fixed by the administration itself and as the traders are increasing day by day, administration should also increase the number of trucks", he said. The traders have also reminded the government to review its decision regarding banning of various items. Khan said that there is ban on Garlic, Ginger, Ajwain, Zeera and Spices and government of India should review its decision and allow them to trade these items which were listed in the Standing Operation Procedure (SoP) signed between the two countries in May 2008. "These items are agreed items and ban must be lifted on them", he said adding that traders are sincere in the trade and government should also come forward to show its sincerity.
