Once more an alleged bovine smuggling bid | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu: It was again a chaotic situation on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway as traffic remained disrupted due to an alleged bovine smuggling bid. Traffic came to a stand still for around four hours near Hari Chak at Chadwal when people held protest demonstration against police authorities for its failure to curb bovine smugglings. They demanded suspension of entire police staff deputed under the jurisdiction of Sub Divisional Police Officer, Chadwal. The episode of protest and demonstration occurred when people intercepted a Tata mobile carrying four bovines. "Two youths were carrying the cattle in the vehicle. When some passers by noticed the movement of the vehicle transporting bovines, they signaled it to stop but the driver ignored it and tried to flee the spot but alert citizens avoid their plan." said an eyewitness. However, when SSP Kathua Garib Dass was contacted, he had something else to say. "It was a case of personal enmity as two civilians manhandled with one of the police officials and a case was registered accordingly. They demanded their release. When arrested persons were not released, some miscreants created a scene that some bovines are being smuggled. " said SSP. As far as today's incident is concerned, it was a local youth who was transporting his own cattle. The people have been pacified by DDC Kathua Sanjeev Verma that it was not a bovine smuggling." After the intervention of the administration, people lift their sit-in and the traffic on highway could be smoothened, source said.
