| PCC mourns death of ex-MLA Bhagat Gouri Shankar | | |

JAMMU, Aug 2: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee mourned the sad and untimely demise of Bhagat Gouri Shankar, Ex-MLA. who breathed his last today in the morning at his native village Dabuj (Vijaypur). He was 85.
President JK PCC Prof. Saifu'd-Din Soz, MP (Former Union Minister) has expressed deep shock and grief over the sad demise of Bhagat Gouri Shanker and conveyed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family. A condolence meeting was held at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chowk Jammu in which rich tributes were paid to Bhagat Gouri Shankar former MLA and veteran Congress leader who served the people of Ramgarh constituency (now Vijaypur constituency) from 1972 to 1977 and 1983-1987 as MLA and the Congress party at various levels. Presently he was Vice President of J&K PCC. He was known for his simplicity and soft-spoken temper. His death has created a vacuum which is hardly to be filled up. Two minutes silence was observed in the meeting and prayer made for peace to the departed soul in heaven.
A large number of political workers and member of civil society participated in the condolence meeting. Among them were Mangat Ram Sharma, Dharam Pal Sharma, Amrit Malhotra, Madan Lal Sharma-MP, Th. Hari Singh, Yash Paul Khajuria, S. Gurmukh Singh, Mula Ram, and others.
In a condolence meeting held under the chairmanship of Om Chopra, Ex-MLA District Congress Committee Jammu Urban also condoled the death of Bhagat Gouri Shankar..
A condolence resolution was passed on the sad demise of Bhagat Gouri Shankar. Two minutes silence was observed and prayers made to God Almighty to give courage to the members of family to bear the loss and peace to the departed soul. Those who where present in the meeting were D.S.Langeh, B.B.Gupta, Sukh Dev Choudhary, J.L.Kaul, Padmani Langeh, S. Kirtan Singh and others.
