| World Breastfeeding week August 1-7 | | |

Jammu, Aug 2: World Breastfeeding Week inaugurated in Government Hospital Gandhinagar Jammu yesterday by Medical Superintendent Dr Subhash Bhagat, was carried forward with an exhibition arranged in collaboration with Health Education Bureau, Directorate of Health Services. Dr Subhash Bhagat inaugurated the exhibition where various banners were displayed showing benefits of breast feeding and associated issues. Later a seminar was organized in collaboration with Bee Enn College of Nursing in which about 40 students of nursing participated along with their tutors. Medical Superintendent Dr Subhash Bhagat, Dr Arun Sharma Deputy Medical Superintendent, Davinder Bakshi AVO, Mrs Nidhi Gandotra CHO and Mrs Jyoti Saraf, Health Educator spoke on the occasion. Others present were Dr Pankaj Kotwal Asstt., Director Health Education Bureau, Swarn Singh, Parminder Kumar and Pankaj Gupta from Directorate of Health Jammu. From Bee Enn College of Nursing S. Ponraj, Asstt Lecturer, and Ms A. Roseline Sr. Lecturer were present along with B.Sc nursing students. Tomorrow a poster competition would be organized in collaboration with students of Bee Enn College of Nursing. Further quiz competition, street plays and education programmes for the public and the patients in the hospital would be organized.
Every year the first week of August is celebrated as ‘World Breastfeeding Week (WBW). The objective is to focus attention on some important aspect of protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding. This year the theme is ‘Breastfeeding – Just 10 Steps! The Baby Friendly Way’
