| Rs. 68.60 crore annual plan approved for Poonch | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, AUG 02: A plan outlay of Rs. 68.60 crore was approved for district Poonch for the current financial year 2010-11 in the District Development Board meeting held under the chairmanship of Minister for Medical and Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports,. R. S. Chib here today.
The amount comprises of Rs. 26.03 crore revenue component and Rs. 45. 56 crore as capital component.
Speaking on the occasion,. Chib stressed upon the need for further streamlining of distribution of BPL ration besides active implementation of MNREGA. He also asked the concerned executive agencies to ensure early completion of the University Campus being constructed in the district.
The Minister directed the engineers to speed up the repair and renovation work on Budha Amarnath road so that it could be completed before commencing of the annual yatra. He asked all the concerned officers to ensure effective monitoring of the development works being going on in the district and seek suggestions of the local representatives and the people as well for better results.
In view of vast tourism potential of the district, the Minister asked the authorities to create massive awareness among the youth of the area regarding various self-employment schemes being available under tourism development. He said that it will not only boost the tourist infrastructure in the district but will go a long way in tackling unemployment.
Referring to the construction of mini-secretariat at Poonch, the Minister said that he will take up the matter of early release of the sanctioned fund with the concerned authorities.
During the meeting, the MLAs of the district highlighted issues of public importance of their respective constituencies and sought early redressal to the same.
Giving a resume of the achievements of the last financial year, District Development Commissioner, Poonch,. Kuldeep Raj Khajuria, informed that of the total approved outlay for the last year 99.98 per cent expenditure was made in the district. He also apprised that apart from various developmental works such as construction of Mini Secretariat building, opening of University Campus and a Polytechnic College in Poonch, restoration of fort building, construction of emergency block at District Hospital Poonch and improvement works of power supply and better road connectivity were taken up in the district.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Haj, Auqaf and Fisheries (Vice Chairman DDB Poonch), Ajaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People, Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjar and Bakerwal, Bashir Ahmed Naaz, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for the Development of Kissan, Rashpal Singh, Vice Chairman Advisory Board for Welfare of OBC, Kuldeep Raj Verma, MLAs. Aijaz Ahmed Jan, MLCs Javaid Ahmed Rana and Mohd Rashid Qureshi and heads of departments.
