| Deputations call on Shabir Khan | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, AUG 02: A number of deputations and individuals today called upon Minister of State for Transport, Power, CA&PD,. Shabir Khan, at Summer Secretariat, Jammu to apprise him of their problems and demands as well.
The deputationists presented a charter of demands to the Minister and sought an immediate action on the same.
A deputation of transporters led by Ex-MLA Gandhi Nagar, Ch Piara Singh, demanded early issuance of national permit in favour of the persons who have already submitted the required fee and other necessary documents for the purpose. They also demanded setting up of a weigh bridge at National Highway in the state besides stressing on the need of further streamlining of the functioning of RTO office for the convenience of transporters and commuters as well.
The deputation also demanded black-topping of entire road network at Transport Nagar besides construction of lanes and drains for creating a better drainage system in the area.
Another deputation of Matador Union called upon the Minister and apprised him of their grievances and demands especially related to the issues that arise frequently due to hike either in fare or fuel prices.
Besides, several representatives from various areas of Jammu region including Majalta, Jindrah and Nowshera met the Minister and apprised him of their problems and sought immediate redressal to the same.
Responding to the demands of the deputationists, the Minister assured that proposal for setting up of a weigh bridge at Udhampur will be prepared and submitted to the concerned for approval. He also said that the matter of issuance of the national permits will be taken up at an appropriate level for early action.
