EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 2: The deteriorating situation in Kashmir Valley where the secessionist and anti national elements rule the roost has been a cause of concern for the nationalist elements in the state of J&K.
Holding the weak-kneed policies of Union Government responsible for the present turmoil in the Valley, these forces are of the opinion that any further delay on the part of Union Government to act decisively will further complicate the situation in the trouble-torn Valley. Taking a serious view of increasing violence and separatist and pro-Pak tendencies in the Valley these Pro India and nationalist elements are for framing a joint front of all the likeminded organizations in all the three regions of the state to counter and take on the separatists and anti nationalist forces in the Kashmir Valley.
Terming the flaring up of sudden violence in Kashmir Valley a part of a big conspiracy, the nationalist elements are also of the view that it is high time for the Government to curb such forces by tightening the law and order machinery and handing over Kashmir to army. Favouring the imposition of the Governor's rule in the state they also accuse the present coalition Government's immature policies in tackling the situation.
The recent developments in Kashmir reveal that Valley is turning to an Islamic State within India, said Surinder Sharma an activist of Hindu Raksha Samiti. The leniency shown towards the pro separatist and Islamist forces by the Government has emboldened them, he added.
He said a trend has emerged in Kashmir Valley during the recent violence that separatists are giving the bandh call on all week days except Sunday. The Friday is now being observed a total holiday during past one month in Valley while Sunday remained open. Even some Government offices and banks were also open Sunday. This is a step to take the Valley towards the Islamisation on the pattern of Pakistan where officer remain open on Sunday and closed on Friday. This trend has begun in Kashmir slowly, Sharma added.
The Government of India as well as State Government are fully aware of this emerging trend in Kashmir but they are maintaining a stoic silence on the issue and have failed to take the cognizance of the same till date, said Veer Saraf of RIK. The Valley is heading towards total Islamisation as earlier the beef shops have been earned in length and breadth of Kashmir to say good by to its pluralistic character and the Islamic dress code was also enforced in educational institutions especially for female students, he added.
This is a serious development and the liberty given by the Government to communal forces in Valley has encouraged them to take the state to ransom at present by intensifying the secessionist movement throughout the Valley, said Sofi Yousf state BJP vice president.
The Government should firmly act against these forces, he said and urged all the nationalist forces in the state to join hands and launch a joint movement against them. He also opposed any solution in the form of greater autonomy, buffer state and double currency in the state.
