| Employment scam: HC directs BDO Ramban to appear in person | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Aug 3 (JNF):- In a petition filed by Isher Dass & other residents of villages Panchayat Kumait and Ghari of district Ramban in which Adv Monika Kohli appeared for the petitioners submitted that government had introduced a scheme for providing wage employment under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and the petitioners were engaged by the respondents under said scheme and issued identity cards. However, the petitioner successfully completed the task assigned to them and then approached the respondents for release of their wages, but respondents instead of releasing the amount threatened petitioners of dire consequences and cancellation of their job cards.
It was alleged in the petition that respondents are misappropriating the public fund and seeking direction to respondents to release the wages of the petitioners.
Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain after hearing Adv Monika Kohli issued notice to the respondents and directed respondents to file objections on the next date of hearing, Court also directed Block Development Officer, Ramban that he shall appear personally on the next date of hearing along with relevant record of disbursement made in pursuance of the scheme as maintained by the petitioner of Block Ramban.
