Bhim demands Guv rule in J&K | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Agu 3: Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman, J&K and Member, National Integration Council Today urged the Parliament of India for its urgent and immediate intervention to save Kashmiris from further deaths and destruction caused by a failed government of NC and Congress. He was addressing a national seminar on situation of Jammu and Kashmir and Indo-Pak Dialogue being held by Awami National Conference in Delhi. The Panthers Chief expressed shock over the highly passive role of the Central government in trying to analyse the cause which has made the youngsters to use streets and roads to express their anger against the inefficient and corrupt government headed by Sheikh Abdullah’s grandson Omar Abdullah. Prof. Bhim Singh appealed to the members of Parliament of the Congress and left parties who were participating in the two-day conference to persuade the Parliament to take up the issue of J&K to restore urgent peace to save the innocent Kashmiris from bullets and stones. He opined that in case Centre is serious to restore peace in J&K, solution lies in replacing the present State government by Governor Rule for a short period. This pause may be utilised by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India to re-initiate his five years efforts to bring the representatives of different political groups and civil society around a table to work out the lasting resolution of the situation. Prof. Bhim Singh emphatically told the gathering of the intellectuals, members of the civil society, political and social leaders from the Valley who were present in the conference including Mr. M.M. Khajuria from Jammu that neither autonomy nor self rule nor removal of Army Special Act is the solution to restore peace and democracy except reorganization of the entire State of J&K by providing independent political, economic and legislative power to each region of the state. This is the only way to remove regional domination which has perpetuated anger and political conflict on regional basis in J&K. He also demanded comprehensive settlement of the refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 and Jammu migrants of 1999.
