Complaints against lab technician Ramban hospital

Ramban, Aug 3: Aggrieved patients and residents of Ramban area staged a protest rally against the maltreatment of patients in the district hospital. Residents alleged that the lab technician of the hospital was perpetrating many malpractices.
Patients and residents of the area alleged that lab technician committed various irregularities in the hospital. He was charging extra fees from the patients, they alleged.
“The Laboratory Technician of the hospital is fleecing the patients and causing them undue harassment like producing fake results. He is cheating the patients,” said Mohammad Shafi from Gool.
He said that he had undergone a medical test for ESR and urea. “On testing in hospital Ramban, the technician reported it only 10 mm where as when I did same at private clinic after some time it came out to be 110 mm. same was the case with urea, he diagnosed it 18 mg/dl whereas after confirming it from private clinic it came 98.2 mg/dl,” he asserted adding that the lab. Technicians were playing with the precious lives of patients...
Other patients corroborated the accusations alleging excessive charges demanded by the laboratory technician.

“I came here for the check up of blood sugar, which said was 58.6 mg/dl, which on testing in private clinic on the same day resulted 240 mg/dl and I was diagnosed as diabetic patient,” said Abdul Qayoom, of Sumbar.
He said that the accused person is charging Rs. 120-150 for tests whereas the actual rate specified for the same test by the government is mere Rs. 30, the person is working against the guidelines laid by the government.
In a note, now in the possession of Early Times, the patients have alleged that the technician is running a private clinic at Banihal. He mostly refers patients to the same clinic to make money. Patients allege that the superintendent, when approached, was reluctant to interfere and subsequently refused to take any action.
When Early Times tried to contact the Superintendent for details, his number was out of reach.
