| Jaipur Mayor enroute to Amarnath attacked by mob | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 3:Mayor Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Jyoti Khandelwal and her contingent of 50 had a narrow escape when a mob attacked them at Manigam near Ganderbal in Kashmir.
According to sources, the angry crowd hurled stones at the cars, and smashed windshields.
However, no one in the incident has been reported injured in the attack, added sources
Sources said the police advised the mayor not to proceed ahead as the valley is simmering with violence but she remained adamant and continue her journey.
Sources further said after her group stranded mid-way, Khandelwal sought help from Congress MP from Ajmer and Union Minister of State for Communication Sachin Pilot. The minister is said to have arranged a safe exit for the mayor.
