| Ensure safe drinking water to people: DDC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, AUG 3: District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Mr Sanjeev Verma, today reviewed potable water supply scenario in Kathua district at a meeting convened with the concerned officers here today.
During the meeting, the DDC directed the concerned authorities to ensure that clean & safe drinking water supply was provided to the
people of the district, especially during rainy season. He asked the Chief Medical Officer, to keep a check on hygiene and quality of drinking water being supplied to the people at block level, with special emphasis on hilly areas of Basohli, Billawar, Bani and Lohi Malhar. He asked the officers to take every possible precaution against the water borne diseases by using chlorine tablets and creating awareness among people with regard to maintenance of cleanliness around unprotected wells and taps.
Similar meeting was held at Billawar under the chairmanship the SDM,
which was among others attended by the tehsil level officers, Principals of Educational institutions and prominent citizens.
The SDM took stock of arrangements like security, sanitation, medicare,
drinking water, and Power supply. He directed the officers to make fool proof arrangements well in advance.
