BJP national leadership divided on dismissal of OMAR govt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Aug 3: BJP national leadership is totally divided on dismissal of Omar Abdullah led coalition government in J&K which has miserably failed in containing the situation in Kashmir valley. According to BJP sources there is a total divide in party high command on the issue. Sources said a BJP leader from J&K who contacted several party leaders at national level this morning to seek their advice regarding the line of action to be drawn by the party on the issue got confusing signals from party's national leadership. Sources said a BJP state leader who was to apprise the media about the party's line of action on Kashmir situation today asked by two national spokes persons of the party Parkash Javed Kar and Shankar Prasad that state leadership is free to take an independent decision on the issue as per the prevailing situation in the state. Sources said that both these leaders informed the local BJP office bearer from J&K that state leadership is free to demand the resignation of Omar Abdullah led coalition in the same. However before going to address the media persons on the issue this morning, the BJP leader from J&K also contacted party leader in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitely on the issue, the sources added. Sources said Jaitely plainly told the party leader from J&K that the state unit should refrain from attacking Omar Abdullah and seeking dismissal of his government. Jaitely sources said advised the state leadership that instead of demanding the resignation of Omar Abdullah, the BJP should make congress party it's target by asking it to withdraw support from the government. This prompted the BJP leader to change the crux of his press conference, the sources said. Meanwhile the BJP high command also held a meeting at union capital this evening, to discuss the prevailing situation in Kashmir valley. The meeting besides BJP national president Vipin Gadkari was attended by senior party leader L.K. Advani, leader of opposition in lok sabha, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitely and other senior leaders of the party. From J&K the state president Shamsher Singh Manhas, leader of legislative party Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta and former state president Ashok Khajuria also participated in the meeting. The state leaders sources said have apprised the high command about the lawlessness in valley where the situation is more worst than 1989- 90 when militancy surfaced in Kashmir. The BJP state leadership also apprised the party high command about the decision of agitation taken by the party against state government to be launched from august 6. The state leadership taking tough stand will ask the government to act or quit the sources said. |
