Semis line-up drawn in Inter-Sector CRPF Hockey

JAMMU, August 04: With three more teams qualifying for the last four stages, the semi-finals position has been cleared in the ongoing 19th Inter-Sector CRPF Hockey Tournament at K K Hakhu Stadium, here today.
Three teams reaching the semi-finals included last year’s runners-up, North Western Sector, third position holders, Bihar Sector and Western Sector. Defending champions, Southern Sector is already placed in semi-finals with all three wins.
Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow, Southern Sector shall take on Western Sector at 3 pm, while Bihar Sector shall lock horns against North Western Sector at 4.30 pm.
Earlier, in today’s league matches, Eastern Sector, Western Sector, Bihar Sector, North Western Sector and Eastern Sector won their respective matches to confirm berths for the knock-out stages of semi-finals.
In a league match, played in the morning session, Eastern Sector held Tripura 2-2 draw. Power Nigesh (8th and 13th) scored for Eastern while P Minz (20th) and S Santomsa (37th) brought in equalizers from Tripura Sector.
Western Sector also won their league tie outplaying Manipur and Nagaland (M&N) Sector by four goals to nil. Anand Hora struck twice in the 15th and 42nd minute while K S Baa (21st) and Inderjeet Singh (28th) contributed one goal each.
In another league tie, Bihar Sector overpowered Jammu Sector beating latter 6-0. Jerku Oraon was top striker with three goals coming in 33rd, 39th and 42nd minute. Skipper, Loknath Nag, Ruri Hemron (13th) and Santosh toppo (36th) were other scorers.
Maintaining their winning spree, North Western Sector today blanked Northern Sector 4-0. With Prasand Bhengra sounding for first blood in very first minute, Anil Beck netted the ball twice in the 19th and 41st minute. Manjinder Singh (34th) was other scorer.
Eastern Sector also won their league tie against Srinagar Sector beating latter 5-1 with first half score being 1-0. Rajesh Sureng (Ist and 26th), Powar Nigesh (34th and 38th) and Birender Singh (37th). From Srinagar Sector, Tikeswar Verma reduced the margin in 36th minute.

Tomorrow’s Fixture: League Matches: Central Sector V/s Jammu Sector at 6 am; Manipur and Nagaland Sector V/s North Eastern Sector at 7 am.
