| Shastri appeals PM for release of DA | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 4: Subash Shastri President national Mazdoor conference has appealed the Prime Minister to release the pending installment of D.A due from July this year @ 10% in favour of the employees of the Central Government as well as the State Government in view of increasing inflation and price hike of the essential commodities. In a memorandum sent too PM today Shastri said that the price index which was 5.69% in December 31st 2010. He said the rate of compensation was revised over six months one in a January and in July every year based on average of the consumer price index for previous months. This would be the 10th biannual increasing since the recommendation of the 6th pay commission which was accepted by the Central govt. in August 15, 2008, he added. Pleading for sanctioning five thousand crores as special package to the state to meet the expenditure on implementation of the pay penal report. Shastri requested Dr. Singh for personal intervene in the matter and grant this package at the earliest. Grant of disturbed area allowance on the pattern of north eastern state in favour of both central and state government employees, enhancement in the wages of daily wagers besides their regularization and enhance the income tax exemption limit to Rs. 3lakhs were other demands highlighted in the memorandum.
