BJP Mahila Morcha protests killing of two minor girls
8/4/2010 11:27:22 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu , Aug 4
Led by State President Sakina Bano, a deputation of dozens of BJP Mahila Morcha activists today called on Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pawan Kotwal to register their protest against delay in action against the police officers responsible for killings of two innocent Hindu girls in Gulabgarh area of Kishtwar district.
The educationists said that it is indeed a matter of shame that even after one month no legal action has been initiated against the SHO and other policemen of Gulabgarh for committing such a heinous crime. They said that both these girls were minors and belonged to the poor families. They were kidnapped, illegally, detained, tortured, given inhumane treatment and later killed by the police in Police Station.
Sakina Bano said that two types of laws are being practiced in the state. While a very quick and hard action is taken against persons responsible for such crime in the valley, in Jammu region, unfortunately, a very soft approach is adopted towards such criminals. Charging the administration of working on communal lines, she said that the matter was not taken seriously because these girls belonged to Hindu community. More unfortunate is the silence on part of the ministers from Jammu who did not utter a single word of condemnation.
The members of the deputation warned of state-wide protests and agitation if the culprit SHO and his men in uniform were not arrested under Section 376 and 302 immediately. They also appealed the National Human Rights Commission, Women’s Commission and Scheduled Caste Commission to take cognizance of this heinous crime and direct the State government to take action against the culprits in accordance with the law of the land.
Kamla Gupta, Neena Gupta, Priya Sethi, Vijay Raina, Rajni Sethi, Sureshta Jamwal, Anju Bala, Vaishno Devi, Ruby Chouhan, Renu Gupta and others comprised the deputation.
