Woes of Kathua government schools | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Aug. 04:- How does it feel for everyone when the Chief Education Officer of Kathua says that he has no knowledge about any government primary school situated on the bank of Ravi canal at Patel Nagar, Kathua where due to the negligence of the education department and the entire administration, an electric transformer of 100 kv capacity has been installed in the school premises at a distance of few feet from the classes endangering the lives of poor and innocent kids. School’s inmates are mostly from poor sections of society. During the recess, innocent children play with the installation accessories of the transformer and it can cause major accident at any time. Ironically the school building is still without fencing wall with dense jungle around it. Education authorities are negligent about this situation. All government school buildings in Kathua wear a worn out look despite the claim of the government to have provided better structures. The middle school (boys) and government girls’ primary school buildings at Shaheedi Chowk Kathua, both situated in the heart of city are almost dilapidated structures. The main wall of middle school (boys) at Mukharji Chowk is non-existent. The chief education officer and entire administration of the Kathua has totally failed to improve the building and the education system in theses schools. It is distressing to note that while these schools cater to the poorer and weaker sections of society necessary infrastructure is denied to them.
