Sangarsh concerned over violence in Kashmir
8/4/2010 11:29:27 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 4:
Sangarsh has expressed serious concern over the prevailing deteriorating situation in terms of violence and mayhem in Kashmir valley.
Addressing media persons here today, Mahesh Kaul, President, Sangarsh said, “The cycle of violence that has engulfed the Kashmir valley is not new. It has existed for years since 1989-90 but the Indian political establishment has discovered it only now. If the Indian state had paid heed to the deteriorated socio-political and religious situation in 1990 when more than 3 lakh Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee Kashmir on the gun point, the things would not have reached to such devastating heights.”
He said, “The situation in the valley is not safe for the minorities as there is complete failure of the administrative machinery and the writ of the separatist leadership demanding secession from the Indian nation runs unhindered on the streets.”
He said that the recent statement of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the backdrop of CCS meeting called by the Prime Minister that,” Jammu and Kashmir is a political situation. It needs political handling. It requires a political package more than an economic package. I mean dealing with the issues like armed Forces Special Powers Act, rehabilitation package for youngsters who are across the line of control and compensation for victims of the ongoing trouble” is a shocking statement. It is a half truth. Chief Minister is more concerned about the anti-national elements when he talks about the political package.
J&K is not only a political problem but religious problem as well as the demography of the valley has changed after the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits from the valley. Any political package which is meant to include the anti nationals and to exclude the nationalistic minorities’ of the state is fraught with danger.
We demand the inclusion of the minorities of the state in any political package.
