Cong root cause of Kashmir turmoil : Prof Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Aug 4: Alleging that Congress is the root cause for troubles and turmoil in Kashmir Valley, the leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has voiced his concern over still vacillation on part of Congress led New Delhi in adopting a firm approach to enforce law and order. Commenting upon the statements of the Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah seeking political package from the Centre to restore normalcy, and reports about a big faction of the leaders of the Pradesh Congress, including the leader of the Legislature Party, Choudhary Mohd Aslam, pleading with the Prime Minister seeking for suspension of the Assembly and imposition of Governor’s rule to bring the situation under control, Prof Gupta said that it was a strange situation. This sort of duplicity is adding pain to the suffering of the masses of Valley and its outfall elsewhere in this sensitive border State as Centre is still fiddling with the real problem, which is lack of vision and acting under the Constitution to defend the life and property of the people as well that of the public. He said the bigger onus lies on the shoulders of Congress who are still in this Coalition which have failed not only to perform but was responsible for current turmoil as also bloodshed in the Valley. Castigating the leaders of the Coalition and week kneed approach of the Centre, Prof Gupta traced the history of events in wake of the gang up of the Congress-National Conference over 19 months back in wake of 2008 Assembly elections. First, he recalled that a boggy of violation of human rights was raised by the separatists and some others, the Coalition leadership too, joined the rat race with controversial elements and the Congress leadership was also in the chorus with loud pronouncements that there would be zero tolerance of human rights violations. They also leveled frivolous charges of rights violations against the forces and the Coalition came out in instituting commissions and enquires. Not only this, over 35000 troops were withdrawn despite warnings by the BJP against lowering the guards.
