Farmers protest extra charge on fertilizers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Aug 4: Rajouri police has arrested a dealer for allegedly charging extra charge on the fertilizers to the farmers. The police picked him from the store after the residents hold a protest demonstration. Police sources told Early Times that they have arrested a dealer from his store in Khandli area of Rajouri where he was selling fertilizer on extra rates. Police said that some people complained them that the dealer is involved in the extra charging of fertilizer following which a team headed by Sub-Inspector Jan Mohd reached the spot and arrested the dealer. Meanwhile, farmers alleged that the dealer was charging Rs 100 extra from the actual rate of the fertilizer bag. “We are being looted by the dealer in the area and he is charging Rs 100 from us”, farmers protesting in the area said adding that though they had complained earlier to the department of cooperatives regarding the same they took no action against the dealer. The locals blocked the road and disrupted traffic on Budhal road. They were however pacified by Assistant Director Cooperatives when he reached the spot and assured the protestors that the culprit if found involved will be punished. Police also reached the spot and lifted dharna by arresting the dealer.
