| Harka Bahadur children for summer school | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur, Aug. 5: A Summer Camp was conducted by Forever in Operations Division for the children of Kargil area providing a platform to imbibe certain essential aspects of personality development. The camp was held from 10 to 12 July... The army conducted various activities to enhance the spirit of adventure among the children and also to expose the children to the experience of living in tents and living off the land.
The aim of the summer camp was to provide an opportunity to the children to interact directly with the army while also imbibe the qualities of discipline, team spirit, focus etc. all essential for any individual aspiring to do well in the society. The camp also strove to bring out the best in everyone as well as canalize the energy of local youth in the right direction.
The summer camp was conducted in a disciplined and orderly manner. The children were divided into two categories i.e. the junior and the Senior Group. The Junior Group was of 8 to 13 years, and the Senior Group between 14 and 16 years. The summer camp was organized for a period of three days, 10 -12 July. The main events organized were Small Arms Firing, Camping in the open, and Volley ball match with army units, picnic and games, screening of selected movies and a campfire brought up the tail end...
The camp provided interface between the army and the locals who evinced keen interest in the camp throughout. Parents were grateful to the army saying that the army could at least prevent the children from wasting their time loitering around. Teaching them something constructive and canalizing their energy towards learning some art are merits for their entire life, they said.
