Harsh hits out at Jammu-based ministers
8/5/2010 9:52:16 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 5: Harsh Dev Singh, NPP, MLA and its working chairman has castigated the Jammu based Ministers for the despicable apathy shown by them in ensuring a timely settlement of Central University row including the issue of appointment of local Vice-Chancellor. He said whereas all other 15 Central Universities had become functional with their academic sessions having become operational, the Jammu Central University was still in doldrums He expressed dismay that lakhs of rupees were paid as rent for the office of not existent Vice-Chancellor who were responsible for such reckless and wasteful expenditure, he quipped.
Flaying the apathetic attitude of the ruling coalition in addressing the aspirations of Jammu people, Singh reprimanded the Jammu based Ministers for total surrender and sell out before their Kashmiri counterparts. He said the Jammu based Ministers had failed to enlist even a single achievement to their credit during the last 18 months.
Harsh Dev Singh further questioned the stand of the Chief Minister in New Delhi in seeking a ‘political package’ and his total rejection of the ‘economic package’ for the state. Singh said Omar Abdullah needed to understand that he was the Chief Minister for the whole state and not for a particular section or region.
Harsh Dev Singh regretted that while the Chief Minister represented the cause of the so called “angry and alienated” in New Delhi, the people of Jammu have once again been pushed to the wall He said such mind set of the leadership was responsible for the utter neglect of Jammu people with total disregard for their local concerns whether it was issue of central university, or of giving package and ex-gratia to the victims of Amarnath land row and consequent loss of property, or of delimitation, or unequal devolution of funds, of poor road connectivity and disparity on tourism promotion, of bias in professional institutions besides denial of equal opportunities in employment.
